In the action-packed new thriller DOOMSDAY, from writer/director Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers), authorities brutally quarantine a country as it succumbs to fear and chaos when a virus strikes. The literal walling-off works for three decades—until the dreaded Reaper virus violently resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists, captained by Eden Sinclair (Rhona Mitra), is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

Im April 2008 lässt eine tödliche Krankheit, der Reaper Virus, im Norden des Vereinigten Königreichs Panik und Verzweiflung ausbrechen. Die Regierung sieht nur einen Weg: die totale Abriegelung von Schottland. Ein Wall wird gezogen, der Luftraum gesperrt und jedwedes Eindringen oder Entkommen unmöglich gemacht. Im Jahr 2033 ist der Reaper Virus zurückgekehrt und bedroht das übervölkerte London. Da es nördlich des Walls Überlebende gibt scheint es naheliegend, dass diese einen Impfstoff entwickelt haben. Dieser muss um jeden Preis beschafft werden. Deshalb schickt Chief Nelson ein Eliteteam unter Führung von Major Eden Sinclair auf die gefährliche Reise in das verwüstete Land und auf eine Schreckensfahrt in die Abgründe menschlicher Barbarei, auf der Suche nach dem ehemaligen Regierungswissenschafter Kane.
