After Erdogan declines to support, Sweden's NATO bid is in doubt.
After an activist burned the holy Quran in Stockholm over the weekend, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan disqualified Turkey from backing Sweden's application to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
Erdogan's remarks imply that Sweden's and the adjacent Finland's ambitions to join NATO are now more remote prospects because Turkish parliamentary approval is necessary for the membership.
