Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE - Adventure mission
  • last year
This model represents the essence of the adventurous spirit that has always dwelled in the lineage of the Hamamatsu Sport Enduro Tourers. Its progenitor can be considered the DR-Z which took part in the Dakar in the eighties with the Belgian Gaston Rahier and which is exhibited on the Suzuki stand at EICMA. The LED headlights define a clear family feeling with the other latest Suzuki innovations and are dominated by a three-position adjustable windshield, as compact as it is protective. Behind it, the V-STROM 800DE offers a command bridge dominated by a multifunctional color TFT LCD display and a handlebar with a variable section. The latter defines an optimal triangulation with the large rubber-coated footrests and with the saddle. The seat offers generous padding to both the rider and any passenger, who can also count on comfortable handles integrated with the sturdy luggage rack supplied as standard.
The chassis supports the globetrotter vocation of the V-STROM 800DE with a solid steel tube frame combined with Hitachi Astemo (Showa) suspension with a travel of 220mm fully adjustable in spring preload and hydraulic brake, both in compression and in extension. The preload of the single shock absorber can, among other things, be easily modified by turning a practical knob.
The wheels are spoked and their measurements are the emblem of a strong off-road aptitude. The front one is 21 inches and mounts a 90/90 tyre, while the rear one is 17 inches, with 150/70 rubber.
The Suzuki V-STROM 800DE is available in three colors: Petra Yellow, Berlin Gray and Dubai Black. Its standard equipment for Italy includes hand guards, a protective grille for the radiator and a rigid plastic belly pan to protect the engine.
