The recently released trailer for an upcoming local horror film titled ‘Pulau’ was met with much criticism online for scenes of bikinis and implied sex, which were deemed by some as too explicit and incompatible with the culture and values of Malaysian society. What has the controversy highlighted about film censorship in the digital age?
