NFL Week 18 Final: Dallas Cowboys Lose Last Regular Season Game Of The Year 26-6 To Washington Commanders

  • last year
The Dallas Cowboys (12-5) dropped their final regular season game to the Washington Commanders (8-8-1) on Sunday afternoon. Dallas was chasing a no. 1 seed in the playoffs but this loss today wipes away that opportunity.

The Cowboys will have to brush this loss off and get ready for Tom Brady and the Bucs as they will play in Raymond James stadium in the NFC Wild Card round. Date and time of this game will be announced at the end of the night Sunday.

Dallas did play the Bucs for their first game of the regular season at AT&T Stadium and lost 19-3. Both teams look very different since the beginning of the season so it should be a good matchup.

The Cowboys need to turn up the jets and leave whatever that was today behind them. Today was not their best, and possibly their worst game played this season. For a team who is looking to make a run in the playoffs, today looked bad.

The game started and ended bad for Dallas, multiple mistakes by special teams gave Washington two possessions that started in the red zone. One resulted in a touchdown.

Dak Prescott’s turnovers didn’t help either. QB1 has thrown at least one interception in the last seven games. Prescott ended the night throwing 14/37 for 128 yards and one touchdown. Not his best game.

We had little to no productivity on offense from the running backs or the receivers. Dallas had 64 total yards on the ground led by Tony Pollard with seven carries for 19 yards. CeeDee Lamb led in receiving with 52 yards and five catches.

Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy blamed himself for the bad pay his team displayed today, “We played poorly and that’s on me. … We need to practice better than we did last week. … Very disappointing.” McCarthy stated after the game in the press conference.

Defensively, Dallas has a huge hole and it’s very obvious nor can it be ignored anymore. There is no question that Trevon Diggs is a top tier corner and hard to compete with, the issue lies on the other end of the field. The Cowboys are going to have to figure out a solution to that position because it’s an obvious problem.

The Cowboys will head back to the drawing board and try to fill in the holes before facing the Bucs next Sunday.
