Tempers flared as a fight broke out and punches were thrown among five passengers on a flight from Bangkok to India. Two Indian fliers were filmed having a heated verbal row onboard low-cost carrier Thai Smile Airways headed for Kolkata city in West Bengal, on December 27.The pair were heard telling each other to 'sit down quietly' and 'put your hand down' while a frantic flight attendant tried to defuse the argument on the Airbus A320 single-aisle jet. However, the fight only escalated when the bespectacled man's friends approached and punches were thrown. The man appeared to try and defend himself from the group's attacks.Shocking footage shows the flier in a black collared shirt receiving a one-sided beating as the brawl caused chaos in the cabin. Other passengers and crew were heard calling for the men to stop.A flight attendant finally put an end to the altercation by separating the two parties. It is unclear what had caused the fight. In a statement, a spokesperson for Thai Smile Airways, a subsidiary of state-owned flag carrier Thai Airways International, said: 'Thai Smile Airways feels sorry for this. We reaffirm that the incident has been taken care of as we followed the flight safety procedures in accordance with international standards. Our flight crews have already provided support to the persons affected by an incident.'Thai Smile has recently rebranded as Thai Smile Airways and its parent company has changed to Thai Airways International amid efforts to stop endemic corruption and soaring debt levels.
