KMU counterchecks DTI’s ₱488 Noche Buena meal for a family of five
  • last year
Members of Kilusan Mayo Uno (KMU) and Kilos Na Manggagawa shop for the list of food items that the Department of Trade and Industry released, amounting to P488 at Nepa Q-Mart in Cubao, Quezon City on December 14, 2022, to countercheck if these items are sufficient for a family of five and if the workers' minimum wages worth P575 can cover the total amount.

The group's total expense in buying the DTI's list reached P570. They stress that the minimum wage is definitely not sufficient if other ingredients and transportation allowances will be included in the expenses.

The workers amplify their call to urgently and sufficiently increase wages all over the country to somehow ease the impacts of the economic crisis. (MB Video by Noel B. Pabalate)
