Group of real-life Grinches were caught on CCTV vandalising a Christmas tree on a village green

This is the moment a group of real-life Grinches were caught on CCTV vandalising a Christmas tree on a village green. The footage shows three hooded youths throwing snowballs at the tree in Eynesbury Green in St Neots, Cambs., before jumping on it and attempting to drag it down. The vandals then take it in turns to run at the tree and jump on it. And shockingly, after a few attempts one of them drags it to the floor. All three can be heard laughing as they run off out of shot at around in the early hours of Monday morning. Locals were shocked to wake up to find their local tree - which had been decorated each year since it was planted by the town council - had been knocked over. Gareth Hurford, who lives just metres away from the tree, said he was “quite disgusted" after watching the footage captured on his security camera. He said: “It’s just sad. It’s a nice tree and they go and do that. Some of its roots have been broken but hopefully it will survive”. The council made attempts to re-erect it on Monday. St Neots Town Council has been approached for comment.
