The cost of some of the nation's most popular electric cars will fall by thousands of dollars, as part of a deal between the Albanese Government and key crossbenchers in Federal Parliament. The electric car discount policy was a Labor election promise, which removes certain duties and taxes from low-emissions vehicles. Contention of the bill surrounded the inclusion of plug-in hybrids which have internal combustion engines which will now be phased out by 2025.
