In the Russian town of Tymovskoye on the far eastern Sakhalin Island, a gas cylinder explosion resulted in the deaths of nine persons. According to the Russian news agency TASS, the explosion happened in the early hours of the morning, and four children were among those killed. There was a possibility that several more persons were trapped under the debris, according to rescue officials.
