The Siraya and other “pingpu”, or “plains”, Indigenous groups have been fighting for years to be recognized by Taiwan’s government. Last month, the Constitutional Court ruled in the Siraya’s favor and gave the government three years to make legal changes. Now the government is discussing how this will happen.
