Huge Blaze Engulfs Dundee Building in Flames as Fire Crews Scrambled to City Centre

A FIRE has broken out at a building in Dundee City Centre.

Shocking images from the scene show the building completely engulfed in flames.

The blaze is believed to have erupted at the abandoned Robertson's furniture building on Barrack Street in the city.

Fire crews have been scrambled to the battle the raging inferno and it is understood up to seven fire engines have been deployed.

An eyewitness told The Scottish Sun how quickly the flames spread, saying: "Even with the best efforts of the fire service the building became an inferno within minutes."

The fire could be seen from all over the city as smoke billowed in the sky.

Police have blocked off roads around the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6pm on Saturday police were called to assist Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, at the scene of a fire on Barrack Street.

“Emergency Services remain at the scene and the neighboring streets are currently closed.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.
