agatelle No.25 in A Minor for solo piano, more commonly known as Für Elise, is one of Beethoven's most popular compositions. However, this piece was not published during his lifetime and was only discovered 40 years after his death by Ludwig Nohl.
Für Elise translated into English simply means For Elise and although the identity of this mysterious Elise has remained unknown many have speculated on who she was and why Beethoven wrote this song for her.
