GOOD DAY FOR DEMOCRACY

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022 (November 10 in Manila) hails a "good day for democracy" after the Democrats' strong performance in the midterm elections even as the Republicans inch toward a slim majority in only one chamber of Congress. The disappointing results for the GOP raises new questions about former president Donald Trump's appeal and the future of a party that has embraced him fully. One bright spot in the GOP's campaign is the runoff in Georgia between Trump candidate Herschel Walker and Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock. A victory by Walker will give the Republicans control of the Senate.
