New $10m government plan to raise profession’s status

Teaching unions have welcomed the government's 10-million-dollar campaign to entice the best and brightest into the profession but are not convinced it will fix the shortages in public schools. The spend is part of a new draft plan to attract more people into the profession. Predictions suggest by 2025 there will be around 4-thousand fewer teachers than needed.
