Since Elon Musk completed his $44 billion Twitter takeover many celebrities have revealed that they are leaving the platform. Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes tweeted that she is “not hanging around for whatever Elon has planned. Bye”. While Toni Braxton tweeted that she’s “shocked and appalled at some of the ‘free speech’ I've seen on this platform since its acquisition”. The singer revealed that she is “choosing to stay off Twitter” as she believes it is “no longer a safe space for myself, my songs and other POC”. Jameela Jamil wrote that “One good thing about Elon buying Twitter is that I will *FINALLY* leave and stop being a complete menace to society”. Former professional wrestler Ken Olin tweeted that he is “out of here” and encouraged his followers to “try to be kinder”. NCRI told The Washington Post that use of the N-word on Twitter increased by 500% in the 12 hours after Musk’s deal was finalized.
