Following the deadly crowd crush in Seoul, Taiwanese officials offered their condolences and expressed shock over the loss of life in the South Korean capital. The tragedy has also led to calls for extra scrutiny to be placed on the safety and security of holiday events which are due to take place in Taiwan later in the year.
