Garden Report: Celtics Downed in Overtime by Cavaliers 132-123
  • last year
The Celtics return to TD Garden to host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night. With Grant Williams suspended for one game after making accidental contact with a referee in the team's loss to Chicago, Boston went against a big Cavaliers team without one of their most versatile defenders and dependable shooters. The Celtics are still dealing with the Gallinari injury and the recovery timetable of Robert Williams, and the Cavaliers frontcourt pairing was a nightmare matchup for Boston's paper-thin center depth.

The twin towers of Allen and Mobley gave the Celtics some serious trouble, and the Cavs duo of Caris Levert and Donovan Mitchell lit Boston up with a whopping 81 combined points as the Cavs overtook Boston in overtime 132-123. The Celtics now drop to 3-2 on the season as the questions about the team's frontcourt and defensive struggles continue to pile up.
