Elon Musk confirmed on Thursday that he has bought Twitter ahead of a court-imposed deadline to seal his $44billion takeover of the company. In a tweet to advertisers early Thursday, the Tesla CEO wrote that there has been 'much speculation about why I bought Twitter and what I think about advertising. Most of it is wrong.' He then went on to say that he acquired the company 'because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.'
