Virgil van Dijk missed a sitter against Nottingham Forest and fans can't believe what happened.

Following an in-swinging cross, the Dutch international had a free header from inside the six-yard box but opted to pass instead of shoot.

Van Dijk's decision left a lot of fans confused and they took to social media to display their dismay at the missed chance.

Liverpool fans instantly took to social media to share their thoughts on Van Dijk's miss and found it hard to contain their confusion.

One fan tweeted 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING VAN DIJK' and another said it was 'terrible decision making' as they saw their star Centre-back head it across goal.

In a game that Liverpool went on to lose, the decision to pass instead of shoot will now be annoying Liverpool fans even more.

Unlike Liverpool supporters, rival fans could see the funny side of the miss and took to Twitter to laugh at the header.

One Twitter user said: 'Van Dijk is too good at defending, he simply had to header that out'

A Manchester United fan referred to the miss as 'criminal' as Van Dijk's header flew across the six-yard box.

This header wasn't the only chance for the Liverpool Centre-back as Van Dijk also missed a glorious opportunity to score late on.

The Dutch defender was denied by Dean Henderson as he rose highest to head an effort towards goal.

Liverpool fans will be left ruing the missed chances by Van Dijk as they head back home without any points.
