Taiwanese virtual reality films are making a splash at this year’s Venice Film Festival, including three which are up for awards. A total of 67 Taiwanese VR works and industry players were featured on the sidelines of the festival.

One of the Taiwanese films in competition is fantasy animation “Red Tail,” about a boy chasing a red fox tail. Another film up for an award is a human rights piece “The Man Who Couldn’t Leave.” The third piece, “All That Remains,” is an experimental theatre production. Reporter Andrew Ryan spoke with the film’s director, Craig Quintero, who is also the artistic director of Taiwan-based Riverbed Theatre Company.
