Paraguay’s president wants US$1 billion in Taiwanese investment in order to maintain his country’s ties with Taipei. Taiwan’s foreign ministry says this doesn’t indicate any change to bilateral ties. But some experts say the public nature of the request could be meant to send a warning to Taiwan.
