Dallas Cowboys (4-1) at Philadelphia Eagles (5-0) NFL Week 6 Preview
  • 2 years ago
The Dallas Cowboys (4-1) are heading to Philadelphia for one of, if not the biggest NFC East rivalries against the Eagles (5-0) on Sunday Night football. The Eagles are currently the last undefeated team in the NFL at 5-0. The winner of this game will take control of the division and have bragging rights until these two teams play each other again on Christmas Eve.

Cooper Rush will be the starting quarterback for Dallas on Sunday as Dak Prescott is still rehabbing from that hand surgery he had in Week 1. According to head coach Mike McCarthy Prescott needs at least one more week before possibly being game ready. He did light throwing this week during practice and according to CeeDee Lamb he was looking really good.

Rush is 5-0 in career starts and has yet to throw an interception this season. Rush will have to look out for the Eagles secondary that is led by CB Darius Slay and James Bradberry. Both have two picks so far this season and are a force to be wreckin with.

According to McCarthy he believes that Darius Slay will be covering Lamb the majority of the game on Sunday night.

Lamb has done exceptionally well and actually has better stats with Rush as his QB than he did with Prescott. Lamb is currently averaging 5.6 yards per reception per game. He averages 68.2 yards per game, and has scored two touchdowns so far this season.

Slay and Bradberry take over this Philadelphia secondary, they both have two picks so far this season and are actively looking for more. With this unsettling secondary that the Eagles bring to the table the Cowboys might rely more on their run game, which was no issue for Tony Pollard and Ezekiell Elliott last year.

Both Pollard and Elliott combined for 164 total rushing yards last Sunday against the Rams, including a 57-yard touchdown from Pollard.

The Eagles have scored a total of 12 touchdowns in their first five games, while the Cowboys defense has only allowed one touchdown. 6 of the 12 touchdowns have come from Eagles QB Jalen Hurts himself. Hurts mobility makes it hard to blitz the QB but Micah Parsons is ready and willing to take on that challenge.

Parsons was named NFC defensive player of the week after his stellar performance against the Rams last Sunday afternoon. Parsons finished the night with two sacks, five tackles, three QB hits, and one tackle for loss.

Parsons has had a tremendous start to the season, he has had six sacks in the first five games of the season and is currently in a four-way tie for first in the NFL for most sacks. He has recorded two sacks in three different games so far this season.

Parsons had a light practice on Wednesday due to that groin issue. Head coach Mike McCarthy wanted to not push him too much. He will have a limited practice again on Thursday but as of right now he will suit up on Sunday night against the Eagles.

With Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Dorence Armstrong in the front and Trevon Diggs in the back it’s going to give Hurts and his offense a lot of press
