World Superbikes ace Victor Steeman, 22, Dies Following Horror Multi-Rider Crash in Portugal

Dutch World Supersport 300 bike rider Victor Steeman has passed on from wounds experienced in an accident in Portugal at the end of the week, World Superbikes said.

The 22-year-old Kawasaki racer crashed with one more rider in Saturday's race at the Algarve circuit and was taken by helicopter to emergency clinic in Faro.

'In spite of the best endeavors of the circuit's clinical staff, marshals and medical clinic staff, Steeman has unfortunately capitulated to his wounds,' World Superbikes said.

Steeman began the Portuguese round of the title with a numerical possibility taking the title after four wins this season.

His family said he had the option to save five others by giving his organs.

Steeman's passing comes under seven days after English Superbikes rider Chrissy Energize, 26, passed on from head wounds in the wake of being struck by one more rider in a race at Britain's Donington Park circuit.

An assertion from his family read: 'Something you have forever feared as a parent of a bike racer has now occurred. Our Victor couldn't come out on top in this last race.

'Regardless of the terrible misfortune and melancholy, we are incredibly pleased to impart to you that our legend, through his passing, had the option to save five others by giving his organs.

'We might want to thank everybody for the manner in which you have lived with us throughout the course of recent days. We will miss our Victor colossally.'

Steeman was amidst a splendid mission, getting four successes and five platform.

Accolades has since poured in for Steeman following the fresh insight about his passing yesterday.
