Care worker numbers fall by 50,000 in a year

A crisis in social care staffing has hit a new low, with more than a quarter of England's adult social care workforce over 55 and considering retirement in the next decade, a report from Skills for Care warns. For the first time there has been a drop in the number of social care workers, with fifty thousand fewer of them now compared to a year ago.
