Injury Update: Damone Clark Moves to Active And Will Have First NFL Practice On Wednesday

The Dallas Cowboys have officially moved Linebacker Damone Clark to active and off of the NFI list. Now that Clark is officially active the Cowboys have a 21 day window to now sign him to the active roster. Clark will participate in his first NFL practice with the team on Wednesday afternoon.
Clark, the linebacker out of LSU, underwent spinal fusion surgery in March right before the 2022 NFL Draft. Due to his surgery, once a projected second-rounder turned into not being so sure if he was going to get drafted due to him missing his first rookie season to rehab.
“All I needed was an opportunity. The opportunity presented itself and I am forever grateful.” Clark said after getting drafted to the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round pick 176.
Mike McCarthy told the media in Wednesday morning’s press conference that everyone is super excited for Clark.
“Everyone is excited about that.” McCarthy said.
“I think the rehab process is completed and I’m glad we waited as long as we did.” McCarthy said that Clark has really put the time and work in to get through this rehab quicker than expected. Clark was projected to miss his entire rookie season and he now has returned for practice for week 5. McCarthy said Clark was at the facility everyday, nights, and weekends to get back to where he wanted to be.
“It will be great to have him out there.” McCarthy said that he and the team is super excited to have him on the field.
Now that it’s only been one practice, McCarthy said they are going to see how the week goes and go from there.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is still rehabbing on that right thumb that got injured in the first game of the season. He was seen today in the rehab group and did not practice.
McCarthy said that it’s now the time to start focusing on the strength of the hand. His return date is still up in the air at this time.
