Joe Biden stood face-to-face with Governor Ron DeSantis on Wednesday as the two met in-person for the first time as the president surveying storm damage in Florida while the rivals put up a united front in the federal and state-level response to Hurricane Ian. President Biden and first lady Jill shook hands with Governor DeSantis and his wife Casey after surveying the storm damage by helicopter in Fort Myers. The Florida first couple greeted the Bidens as they stepped out of their motorcade to receive a briefing from state and local officials on what is needed to successfully recover from the damage from the category 4 storm, which left more than 100 people dead and hundreds of thousands displaced.
