Lesley Duncan • Mother Earth ℗ 1972 Rock Style: Folk Rock, Pop Rock

The name of the English singer Leslie Duncan is not enough to say to the average listener, not too sophisticated in the English stage of the sixties and seventies of the last century. Some of the seasoned music lovers will really wonder if she was involved as a background vocalist on the cult album The Other Side of the Moon by the British band Pink Floyd? Didn't she sing the lead vocals on "If I Could Change Your Mind" on Alan Parsons' art-symphonic-pop project Eve? Yes, that's right, it was Leslie Duncan.
But Leslie Duncan's contribution to the world treasury of rock and roll is not limited to this collaboration with eminent characters of the English stage. In my opinion, the most important thing in her creative biography is that she has the honor of becoming one of the first British singers performing songs of her own composition. At the same time, in her songs there was an amazing emotional depth and penetration, which, combined with the enveloping warmth of a crystal clear voice, brought her into the category of the best British singers, whose creative attachments were at the intersection of rock music, popular pop and folklore.
Leslie Duncan was born on August 12, 1943 in the port city of Stockton-on-Tees, located in the north-east of England. On November 22, 1963, the legendary Liverpool Beetles (The Beatles) performed at the local Globe Theatre. On the same day, on the other side of the world, in North America, US President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. However, there is no connection between these two events. Moreover, all the Beatles have an "iron" alibi.
