The cost of living crisis is impacting people’s spending abilities, including how much they are able to pay for food.

Food banks such as Salford Foodbank in Salford are anticipating an increase in demand for their services over the coming months due to the soaring prices of bills and the cost of living crisis.
Mervyn Gledhill, the Agencies and Centres Co-ordinator at Salford Foodbank said: “The demand has gone up probably by at least one hundred percent over the last two years.

“The majority of that has been in the last three months. We’re concerned that the demand is going to increase.

“The general cost of living is going to cause us a huge problem.”
