CRISTIANO RONALDO was covered in blood after a painful clash with Czech Republic goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik.

The Manchester United striker suffered the painful injury within the first 12 minutes of Portugal's Nations League clash after contesting an aerial ball.

Ronaldo collided with Vaclik's jump, whose arms smashed into the Portugal legend's face, knocking him to the ground.

Blood gushed from Ronaldo's nose as he sat dazed on the grass.

The striker required medical attention but then returned to the pitch with a bandage on his nose.

And he was back in the thick of the action soon after when he was handed a penalty, although Patrik Schick missed from the penalty spot.

Portugal won 4-0 to set up a decisive group decider at home to Spain on Tuesday.

A frustrated Ronaldo was left scoreless in Prague, but it was a much happier occasion for a pair of Old Trafford teammates.

Red Devils right-back Diogo Dalot scored an astonishing double to either side off a shot from Bruno Fernandes.

Diogo Jota of Liverpool scored the fourth last.

The Portuguese controlled possession and opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Rafael Leao finished off a cross into the area and Dalot finished off goalkeeper Vaclik.

Fernandes doubled the visitors' lead in added time late in the first half when he burst into the box and converted a cross from close range.

Dalot scored his second shortly after the break with Jota completing the scoring in the 82nd minute to leave the 2019 winners in pole position to reach the semi-finals.

Portugal leads the group with 10 points ahead of Spain with eight after five games with one game to play.
