Fans Outraged after Valeriy Bondar Escapes a Red Card for 'Wiping Out' Scotland Star Che Adams Clash

Scottish football pundit Michael Stewart has joined outraged fans in criticizing the decision not to expel Valeriy Bondar for 'wiping out' Scottish star Che Adams.

The Ukrainian defender dismissed the striker towards the end of the first half, but he avoided being sent off and was shown a yellow card by the referee.

The referee's suggestion seemed to be that Bondar was not the last man and had not prevented a scoring opportunity.

And former Hearts and Hibs midfielder Stewart insisted the 23-year-old should have seen red because of the force with which he collided with Adams.

Stewart told Premier Sports: 'I think that tackle maybe warrants a red card.

'Absolutely erases Che Adams. Of course, he will think that there are defenders who are helping to produce just one yellow card, but he looks at Bondar here. He absolutely annihilates it.

'That to me is a red card.'

One fan tweeted: “This is not red because he is the last man. It's red because it's assault!

Another fan said: 'It doesn't matter if it was a scoring opportunity, it was an assault.'

And a third fan said: 'Absolutely shocking... red card every day.'

"I think the defender knows he's not getting it, so he crosses the line and because of the power of Che Adams' run, that's where he's got a little bit of strength."

I think he has done well. It may be orange, but not red.
