Eight Congress MLAs in Goa joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday. The Congress MLAs who joined BJP include former CM Digambar Kamat and leader of the opposition Michael Lobo. This leaves the Congress with three MLAs in the state.

Former Congress MLA Michael Lobo on Tuesday said that party MLAs have joined BJP to strengthen the hands of PM Modi and CM Pramod Sawant.
