Emissions reduction bill passes with cross bench support
  • 2 years ago
The Albanese government has claimed its first climate policy victory with its signature emissions reduction bill passing the senate. Labor's bill which proposes a 43% emission reduction by 2030 and net-zero by 2050 cleared the upper house with the support of the Greens and cross bench senators. The legislation will now return to the house of representatives for M-PS to approve changes made in the senate. But with only eight years to effectively half the countries emissions the government acknowledges time is a critical factor.
