SECURITY DELEGATION OF NEW ZEALAND CRICKET VISITS SSU HEADQUARTERS; EXPRESSED SATISFACTION OVER SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS

A 04-member security delegation of the New Zealand Cricket Board comprising Reg Dickason, Simon Lasley, Greg Mann and Heath Mills visited the SSU headquarters. DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Dr. Maqsood Ahmed chairing a meeting briefed the delegation over the security arrangements related to the visit of the New Zealand cricket team to Pakistan.

The security delegation of New Zealand Cricket, senior officials of PCB, intelligence officials, SSP South Asad Raza, SSP East Syed Abdul Rahim, Wing Commander Sindh Rangers Babar Javed, SP SSU Azhar Mughal, SP FSC Tauheed Memon, SP Madadgar-15 Hafeez ur Rehman, SP Gulshan Saleem Shah, officials of Special Branch and Traffic Police and other senior officers attended the meeting.

DIG Security and Emergency Services Division informed the delegation about the security arrangements to be in placed regarding the visit of the New Zealand cricket team to Pakistan, especially for the matches to be played at the National Stadium Karachi.

DIG Dr. Maqsood Ahmad said that the SSU commandos have been provided with advanced professional training, equipped with modern weapons and communication system (SWAT) team of SSU to deal with any unexpected situation created by anti-social elements.

DIG Security further said that in the past, various international teams like the Australian cricket team had a successful visit to Pakistan which indicates the fact that Pakistan is a safe country for international sports activities.

The delegation reviewed the security arrangements made at the airport, stadium, roads and hotels in the context of the matches at the National Stadium and expressed their satisfaction.

In addition, the delegation also visited various departments of SSU headquarters and appreciated the maintained professional standards and enhanced the professionalism of police commandos.

Later, the delegation alongwith DIG Dr. Maqsood Ahmed and PCB officials also visited the National Stadium.
