Incredible moment almost EVERY car at Daytona gets wiped out going round oval during rainstorm in Daytona

Denny Hamlin and Daniel Suarez led during lap 138 of the Coke Zero 400 Cup Series event at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, before they and many other cars lost control.

Several crashed into the safety barrier on the right side of the track, while others spilled out onto the grass.

With nowhere to go, the cars behind also collided with only two of the 22 vehicles in the lead avoiding contact entirely.

That benefited running back Austin Dillon, who managed to move from 16th to first after finding a spot in the carnage.

He won the race after a three-hour rain delay and secured a spot in the Nascar playoffs.

But some drivers believe the delay came too late and were frustrated because they felt the crash could have been prevented.

Asked how the crash could have been avoided, Hamlin said: "Better refereeing, that's all we can do. We'll learn from this, I'm sure."

Others suggested that the race should have been stopped once it became known that a rain storm was heading towards the track.

Suarez said: “We knew the rain was coming, it's raining next door.

"I feel like they have a lot of technology in there to know this is very close, and if it's very close, I don't think it's necessary to put ourselves in those positions."

Added Justin Haley: "They had about a full lap to call caution and they wrecked a lot of race cars. That was pretty unacceptable."
