Danilo Gallinari INJURY UPDATE and Reaction
  • 2 years ago
Celtics forward Danilo Gallinari tore his left meniscus after fear he had suffered a much more severe injury running in transition for Team Italy. He'll miss next week's EuroBasket, but he expressed optimism he'll be back sooner than later. Robert Williams III returned in three weeks from his meniscus tear in March trying to get back on the floor for the playoffs, while Gallinari has 51 days and then some time into the season to progress more cautiously at 34-years old. A removal surgery could get him into the Celtics lineup in 4-8 weeks, but the potential for a repair surgery could still leave him missing a significant amount of the regular season. It'll depend on the severity and positioning of the tear, as well as Gallinari's preferences.
