Former teen star Jennette McCurdy talks to Salon about the writing of her memoir, now a number one New York Times bestseller, “I’m Glad My Mom Died.” McCurdy talks about what pushed her to write about her abusive mother, who pushed her into show business at an early age, her struggles with OCD and eating disorders and how she finally made peace with her past. “There are instances where mothers don't deserve the pedestals that they are put on,” McCurdy shared with Salon’s Mary Elizabeth Williams.
