History of Indian PM speeches from Red Fort: Special Report

There was a lot of enthusiasm among the people about the first Independence Day celebrations of India on 15 August 1947. The flag hoisting was done in today's Vijay Chowk and then Princes Park. Now the tricolor is hoisted at the Red Fort. After the public function of 15 August, Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the tricolor from the Red Fort on 16 August. Since then, on Independence Day, the Prime Minister of the country hoists the flag at the Red Fort itself.
