JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar resigned as the Bihar Chief Minister on Tuesday, hours after he held a meeting with all party MLAs and MPs at the chief minister's residence. He told the media that he had resigned as chief minister and confirmed the news of JD(U) splitting from the NDA alliance.

Meanwhile, 18 MLAs from the BJP and Eknath Shinde's faction of the Shiv Sena took oath as ministers in the new Maharashtra government on Tuesday.
