The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been urged to explain its rationale for appointing an insolvent individual to the Excise Licensing Board of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (ELBKL).

Federal Territories MIC deputy chairperson D Pala Kumaran said the individual is also a divisional chief of Bersatu’s associate wing.

A search by Malaysiakini on Monday (Aug 1) at the Insolvency Department showed that the individual has not been removed from the bankrupt list.

When contacted, DBKL Licensing and Hawker Development Department director Khairul Anuar Mhd Juri said the City Hall has taken note of the matter.
