Arsenal Fans Praise Joel Ideho's 'Beckhamesque' Strike from Almost 50 Yards Against St Albans City

'That's Beckham-esque!': Arsenal fans rave about teenager Joel Ideho’s stunning strike from near the halfway line during the youth team's pre-season win over St Albans City.

The 19-year-old picked up the ball at the Gunners midway through the second period. He dribbled forward and made an impressive shot from about 50 yards while standing by the center circle after seeing goalkeeper Loris Marcimin off his line.

It turned out to be the only goal of the match, which was attended by 2,601 fans at the Mozzarella Fellas Stadium in Clarence Park.

Arsenal fans were quick to celebrate the 'spectacular' and 'ridiculous' nature of the Dutch teenager's goal, after it surfaced on social media.

One said: 'Wow! Take a bow, Joel Ideho, that's a goal: Beckhamesque!', due to its similarity to David Beckham's long-distance classic from 1996, almost seven years before Ideho was born.

It's also not the first time Ideho has pulled off such an impressive punch, prompting another commenter to point out, "Everyone needs to have a special move."

On Twitter, fans responded with other high-quality goals from Ideho, including one for Arsenal's youth team who took advantage of a Southampton error.

Another highlighted a delicious chip Ideho made at Ajax, where the Dutchman played before joining the Gunners.

St Albans City hope to avoid being on the wrong end of another strike like that when they take on Chelmsford City in their first league game of the season on Saturday.

For Ideho and Arsenal under-21s, their campaign also kicks off on Saturday against Manchester United.
