Jubilant England players burst into boss Sarina Wiegman's post-match press conference singing 'It's Coming Home' as they celebrated their dramatic 2-1 extra-time win over Germany in the Euro 2022 final at Wembley.
Chloe Kelly pushed the ball past goalkeeper Merle Frohms in the 110th minute to seal the Lionesses' first major trophy and end a 56-year wait for a major trophy for any England team, men or women.
Ella Toone scored England's first goal with a clever lob, but Lina Magull's equalizer with 11 minutes remaining in regulation time leveled Germany.
Wiegman was in the middle of his news conference when his team burst into the room, singing and dancing around the head table.
Concierge Mary Earps even climbed onto the table to continue dancing as the celebrations seemed to continue well into the night.
England's inaugural success has been masterminded by Wiegman, who has now won back-to-back European championships after his 2017 success with the Netherlands.
“I think what we've done is really amazing. I don't think I really realized what we've done, because I haven't followed everything, but we know the whole of England is behind us," he said.
We have had a lot of support from our fans and I am very proud of the team, the players and the staff.
I'll need a couple of days to realize what we've done.
“They were two teams that really wanted to win the game and that's what made it so tight.
"Their union was also very strong, so we had a hard time playing our game, but in the end we were really itching to score a goal."
'We have shown the quality of this team and the depth as well. I'm not sure if that's the reason, but we scored a goal.
'When I accepted the job, you expected one thing, but we knew there was quality and great potential in this country. You expect things to work out.
'That was one of my personal challenges. My challenge was to bring people from another country together and it worked. It is something you dream of and hope for.
Wiegman also paid an emotional tribute to his late sister, revealing the meaning behind a gesture he made after the win when he kissed a wristband.
"I'm kissing this little bracelet that was my sister's and my sister passed away during our prep camps," she said. 'That's a big mistake because she's my partner, but I think she was here, I think she was on the crossbar.
