Picture frames are one of those woodworking projects that we all assume we know how to make. After all, a frame is just four pieces of wood glued together, right? Of course, there's also the piece of glass, the lining and something behind it. Framing is actually a speciality in woodworking, and people who do it all the time are very good at it. In this video how to make a picture frame, we'll go over the basics so you don't have to reinvent the wheel.
The drawing below right shows parts of a standard frame. The glass fits into a notch on the inside edges of the wooden frame members. Behind the glass are, in order, the washer, the picture and a piece of foam board. All these elements shall fit easily into the opening without having to be forced; they shall all be held together by glass points driven into the wood behind the foam board.
