Supreme Court upholds ED’s power to arrest under PMLA | Watch

In a big boost to the Centre, the Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the Enforcement Directorate’s power to inquire, arrest and attach property under the Prevention of Money Laundering (PMLA) Act. This development comes amid Sonia Gandhi’s questioning by the probe agency in connection with the National Herald case. The Congress leader is being questioned for the third day today. A bench led by Justice AM Khanwilkar had delivered the verdict on a batch of petitions challenging the process of arrest, seizure and investigation carried out by the ED and seeking interpretation of provisions of the PMLA.
