HIGHLY-TRAINED protection dogs and six year olds don’t usually go together, but at Dark Dynasty K9s it’s part of daily life. Co-owners Marlon and Lisa Grennan have made protection training a big part of their two sons’ lives since they were toddlers. Now Jackson, six, is well on his way to following in his father’s footsteps and has recently started training with the biggest dogs at DDK: Hulk and Kobe. Marlon said: “Some families go fishing and things like that. We train dogs together. That’s what we do, that’s how we bond.” Jackson has been using the bite sleeve since he was two and is more than comfortable around Hulk and Kobe. He and his brother, Jordan, regularly work with the two giants of DDK, helping to keep the dogs’ protection abilities at their peak. Lisa said: “Jordan and Jackson are very different levels of training, but Jackson has been working with the dogs since he was a baby. We saw Jackson on the show with Hulk the second he got home from the hospital.” Jackson has been slowly working towards more intense training but thanks to Hulk’s awareness, the six-year-old has never come to harm or been out of his depth. Marlon said: “It’s just a testament to what a great dog Hulk is. When Jackson comes in it’s a whole different level of intensity and the dog absolutely understands what he’s doing – that that’s a little body. He’s just the best dog in the world. Your dog might be good but he’s not as good as my dog.”
