Jagdeep Dhankhar - the ex-Bengal governor and now Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance nominee for vice president - filed his papers for the upcoming election on July 18, 2022. He was accompanied by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dhankhar will face ex-Rajasthan governor Margaret Alva in the race to replace M Venkaiah Naidu as India's vice president.
