"After Months long protests, the sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is finally gone. Rajapksa fled the country a night before. He first went to Maldives and then from there he went to Singapore. There are reports that this might not be his last destination; he may go to UAE. But while in Singapore, he announced his resignation. Today the parliament also held a brief session to where the speaker read out the resignation.
The resignation comes amid pressure from the masses who had taken to streets in large numbers demanding his resignation:
The question is now that he has resigned, what next for Sri lanka. Mind you the protests were sparked because of the economic crisis in the country and the inability of the leadership to find a way out of it.
