Russia claims that it controls Ukraine’s Luhansk region. Luhansk is one of the two eastern regions which has been under Putin’s radar since the invasion. Although Russia has proclaimed victory over Luhansk, Ukraine has described it as a tactical retreat. But, what makes Luhansk so significant in the battle?
