Mexican mayor weds crocodile in indigenous ritual for abundance
  • 2 years ago
Victor Hugo Sosa, the mayor of a small Mexican town, married his crocodile bride in a colourful indigenous ceremony on June 30, 2022. Guests danced to traditional music while the leader of San Pedro Huamelula bent down to kiss the small crocodile’s snout, which had been tied shut. The age-old ritual is like a prayer for bounty. “We ask nature for enough rain, for enough food, that we have fish in the river,” said Sosa.
