Australia War Memorial marks sinking of the Montevideo Maru

The Australian war memorial has commemorated the 80th anniversary of Australia’s worst maritime disaster. The Montevideo Maru a Japanese prisoner of war ship was transporting more than a thousand Australians when it was sunk by the U-S navy in World War two leaving no survivors.
